Thursday November 2nd
Left Mount Vernon around midnight and headed North for the Canadian border. Over the border no problem and drove the 11 miles to Surrey, BC ready to deliver in the morning. Got to the customer to park up at around 2am, and their warehouse was still open, so I got unloaded for around 4:30am and ran the 10 miles to our Vancouver terminal to drop my empty trailer and ask for something towards Calgary and home. James in central dispatch, nice chap, gave me an LTL for Calgary, so I headed out with it, stopping at the Chilliwack Husky for fuel and coffee, then up the Coquihalla, finally stopping at the Gateway centre, just East of Kamloops for a nap around 9am. Up around 5pm and after buying coffee, set off East towards Alberta and home. Fuelled at the Sicamous Husky, got more coffee and headed out again. Through Revelstoke and the freezing rain started. Around 40km East of Revelstoke, just before Rogers pass, a warning came over the CB about an accident just ahead. Slowed down and stopped around the corner before the crash to warn other vehicle. There were 2 jack-knifed semis blocking the road completely and then another 2 Westbound semis had hit the wreck. 2 pick-ups and a minivan were also involved. So, that was it for the rest of Thursday, sitting in Albert canyon waiting for the emergency services.
