Thursday June 14th
Left Wells around 1am and headed West on I-80 towards California. Got me some fuel and the ever present coffee at the Winnemucca flying 'j' and managed to get through Sparks and Reno before even more crazies join the rush. Into California and the 55mph speed limit. There are a few states with a 55mph limit for trucks, California being one of them, and it feels like you're not getting anywhere. Anyway, on we go, through Sacramento in the rush hour (lovely) and on to around 40 miles East of San Fransisco where I turn South and over one of the many bridges around the bay. South some more then West towards the coast on 17 (which, in my opinion, should only be attempted with the aid of oxygen and several Sherpas). All the way out to Santa Cruz then South on highway #1, the pacific highway, down to Watsonville where my delivery is for. Got unloaded and headed round to the truck stop at Gilroy and got some food and sleep, which isn't easy at 108 degrees F. AC on full tilt then.
